Design Programs & Summer Intensives: 2023 - 2025
Over the past few summers, I’ve explored different areas of design: from product and interior design to fashion and staging. Each program gave me a new way to think about creativity and how design connects to everyday life. I’ve loved working with people from all over the world, experimenting with materials, and seeing ideas take shape from sketches into real projects. These experiences helped me understand that design isn’t just about how something looks, but how it makes people feel and interact with their surroundings.
Industrial Design Program
Auburn University, School of Industrial and Graphic Design |July 2023
My first design program was at Auburn University, where I was introduced to the fundamentals of product design. I learned how to take an idea from concept to sketch to model, and how form and function work together. It was my first time working in a real design studio setting, and it made me realize how much I enjoy hands-on, creative problem solving.

Industrial Design Program
Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD)|July 2023
At SCAD, I deepened my understanding of design thinking through short projects focused on everyday objects. We explored how to improve usability and aesthetics at the same time. I also discovered how much collaboration matters in design: sharing ideas, giving feedback, and finding better solutions as a team.

Product Design Intensive
Parsons School of Design, New York |June 2024
Spending four weeks in New York City for Parsons’ pre-college program was one of my favorite experiences. The program focused on product design, and I got to experiment with materials, create small prototypes, and present my projects to instructors and classmates. Living in NYC surrounded by art, architecture, and design energy made me even more certain that this is the field I want to pursue.

Fashion Design Program
Oxford Academia, American University of Paris |September 2025
In Paris, I studied fashion design through the Oxford Academia program, where I explored how design can express culture and identity. We worked on sketches, mood boards, and concept presentations inspired by the city’s history and architecture. I also gained an appreciation for how texture, color, and structure translate across all areas of design.
A quote from an evaluation written by one of my professors at Oxford Academia.
“Throughout the duration of the program, Sophia was engaged, respectful, and an absolute pleasure. Her insightful contributions and artistic skills made Sophia a stand-out student. Although a bit reserved at first, Sophia became increasingly willing to participate, while also creating space for other students. Sophia’s desires to pursue the arts are inspired and legitimate – she has a strong sense of style and is a gifted visual artist.
I was especially impressed with Sophia’s consistent and ever-present acumen and taste-levels. Additionally, Sophia’s moodboard was exceptional, along with her illustrations and final mock-up for the fashion show. Sophia will no doubt be successful in everything she decides to pursue!”
